Here at Netflix, we strive to bring our viewers captivating, powerful, and entertaining content. We also barely pay attention when we watch our own shows. That’s why we’re making a reality series based on Squid Game—to prove that we didn’t understand the point of Squid Game. Like, at all.

You may remember that Squid Game revealed the ugly violence of capitalism and laid bare its lie of upward social and class mobility. But we don’t remember that, because we didn’t watch the show critically.
