What is this?

It’s something. It’s always something.

How did I get here?

You took a wrong turn on your way to the forum. Or you’re slowly turning into a rhinoceros. Don’t turn into a rhinoceros. Read this newsletter instead. Satire, essays, ephemera, and exclusive content for paid subscribers.

Who are you?

I’m Eli. I’m an American satirist, whatever that means. I’m a longtime contributor to The New Yorker and McSweeney’s, and a former late night TV staff writer. I wrote This Won’t Help, an award-winning essay collection. This is my newsletter, where I publish topical humor, essays, fiction, and writing-about-writing. I’m interested primarily in rich people, and how bad they are for the world. Other topics include everything else.

Nothing will cure me from reading the news—I’m hoping this does.
